We understand the skepticism with postpaid service, however, it offers many other benifits that prepaid carriers have trouble matching. Including but not limited to:
Cell phone discounts.
Device protection & service line control.
Consistant service.
No self-activation. We do it in-store.
A wireless rep you can talk to with questions or assistance.
Optional monthly financing.
No-contract.
Despite common misconceptions, postpaid & prepaid service are actually very similar! The main diffrence for postpaid service is that you pay for the month of service after that month has ended. With prepaid, you are expected to pay for the service upfront.
While prepaid is the right option for some people depending on your service needs. Listed below are some downsides that can be a burden to some people.
Self-activation. With prepaid, you are expected to activate your service each month & visit a physical store to buy service cards unless autopay is turned on or your service refills are done online. Most wireless reps or Walmart associates are not allowed to refill service on a prepaid device. Read our disclaimer here.
Financing isn't readily available. In-store prepaid devices are difficult to purchase on a financing plan, with postpaid, you have that option!
Spam texts/calls. This seems to happen more often on prepaid due to the fact that phone numbers are constantly being cycled around, leading you to get someone else's old phone number.
Device credits are done diffrently. If you purchase a prepaid device with a credit promotion, the device cost is still required upfront. Which can take some time in order to recieve the money you paid for the device back on your prepaid account. With postpaid service, if you choose to recieve credits, your device is cheaper out the door, so any credited cost is never paid on upfront.
For customer service, contacting your prepaid carrier must be done over the phone, there is not a physical store you can visit for most prepaid carriers regarding any questions or issues.
